On Thursday, December 11th, the orchestra held its winter concert from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
They had limited time to prepare, but still put on an enchanting performance.
“We got our music in late November, so about 3 weeks,” Freshman Viola Chloe Cuenco said.
The first group to play was the Symphonettia, which featured a mix of songs such as Deck the Halls, Silent Night, and Jingle Bells. Their second featured piece was “Worthy is the Lamb that was Slain.”
The second orchestra to perform was the Philharmonic, which played A Glimpse of Winter and All is Well, giving the audience a sense of calm and peace.
Cameratta was the third orchestra to perform, with the pieces A Carol of the Shephards, We Need A Little Christmas, and Gesu Bambino, adding a touch of warmth.
Chamber, the second best orchestra, took the stage and played the pieces Happy Holiday/White Christmas, with Glisten Carol, and Wizards in Winter.
Finally, Symphony, the highest orchestra, played Troika, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Santa the Barbarian, and the Snowpocalypse, and ending the performance with Christmas Karaoke, which is a mix of holiday songs, and the consensus being that everyone enjoyed singing along.
For the concert finale, all orchestras got together as an ensemble to play Auld Lang Syne, lighting up the auditorium with festive little lights attached to their bows.
“We could have done much better, but with the amount of practice we had, it was a good performance,” Freshman Violin Priyaanga Ghaneshwaren said.
