To start off the holiday and concert season, concert 2 and 3 led it off with White Christmas by Berlin/Sweeney and March of the Sad Santas by Robinson.
Senior Connor Hance plays the bari saxophone in the Symphonic band and believes it’s important to not act like the main character while performing.
“It’s important to go with the flow of the music, don’t overthink it, don’t do something you wouldn’t do in class,” Hance said. “Just produce good music for the people to enjoy”.
Following after, was concert 1 giving a strong first impression with Santa the Barbarian by Standridge. From barbaric to goofy, concert 1 finishes off with Christmas at the Circus by Standridge.
Senior, Bandon Parker plays the tuba in the Wind Ensemble and says he has improved in technique and is excited for the new season to be the best possible musician.
“During marching season, everyone just plays the same music and you don’t really get to show off your skill sets,” Parker said. “But in concert season, it’s a lot more different and I enjoy it a lot more.”
Next up was the Symphonic band, playing a Christmas Festival by Anderson, a song that contains all everybody’s favorite Christmas songs like Joy to the World, Silent Night, Jingle Bells and many more. The band ended it off with an epic Let the Bells Ring by Buckley.
Senior, Joshua Williams plays percussion in the Wind Ensemble and is excited for concert season because in marching season, percussion doesn’t really play with the band.
“It takes a lot of hard work and time to do all these concerts and learn all the parts,” Williams said. “But the best part is showing off the hard work and seeing how it pays off”.
Lastly was the Wind Ensemble playing a Cowboy Christmas by Simmons. The exotic instruments, and the wide variety of Christmas sweaters worn by the students made it easy to be engulfed into the Christmas spirit. To say goodbye, the Wind Ensemble finished the night off with their yearly Sleigh Ride by Anderson.
