August:
School started with Football and cross country kicking it off and, district introduced the state wide phone and electronics ban.
September:
The ten commandments became required to be put up in every classroom, and cross country closes out its season with multiple runners making it to state. Football remains undefeated and cheer and dance host their clinics, while the CISD student art show open house takes place. The school also celebrates and raises awareness for suicide prevention month. The theater also performs “Dracula: Comedy Of Terrors,” and Dr. Vinson becomes the new superintendent.
October:
Band advances to the UIL state competition. Football takes home the win for homecoming, while the school shows their spirit and by dressing up the week leading to the game and dance. The theater puts on a show “Emma,” adapted by Kate Hamill.
The school celebrates red ribbon week with a fun spirit week for students to dress up. The mini college fair is hosted, with 29 different colleges and programs from around the state. The PSAT/SAT is taken by students while Japanese foreign exchange students stay and experience CP for a week. The cross country team also makes it to state, with the girls team in 3rd place, and the boys team in 2nd.
November:
Football season ends with becoming district champs and making it to the third round of playoffs. The band competes in the UIL state competition, placing 25th out of 249 6A bands. The cheer team takes an impressive feat with 1st place at the UCA Houston Regional, placing the highest out of 116 cheer teams. Speech and debate become state qualifiers, and the student council hosts a food drive. The Revs competed in their first competition of the season. The orchestra had two students become all state finalists.
December:
The Western art show commences, and the winners of the ornament competition are revealed. Debate competes in the national championship, resulting in six finalists and one National Champion. Midterm week wraps up and students are finally let out for the winter break.
