This year’s Oscars red carpet actually felt worth paying attention to, and that doesn’t always happen. A lot of the time, it’s either forgettable or just people doing way too much for attention, but this year, there was a solid balance. Overall, I liked it. It felt more put together, more intentional, and way less chaotic than some past years.
The biggest thing I noticed was how many people leaned into clean, classic looks, and it worked. There were a lot of simple gowns, but not in a boring way. Think smooth fabrics, fitted silhouettes, and colors that didn’t scream for attention but still looked expensive. Those were easily my favorites. The dresses that had structure, like corset-style tops or perfectly tailored fits, stood out the most because they actually looked polished. Nothing looked sloppy or rushed.
At the same time, I appreciated that some people still took risks. There were a few bold colors and unique designs that actually paid off, rather than flopping. When someone wore something different, it felt thought-out instead of random. That’s the difference if you’re gonna stand out, at least make it look like you planned it. And this year, some people really got that right.
I also liked how styling played a big role. Hair, makeup, and accessories actually matched the outfits instead of competing with them. It made everything feel more complete. Nobody looked like they just threw pieces together at the last minute, which honestly makes a huge difference on a red carpet like the Oscars.
But not everything hit. There were definitely some outfits that just didn’t land. A few dresses looked overly complicated, as if designers tried to mix too many ideas into one look. Weird shapes, too many layers, or random cutouts that didn’t flatter at all. And then there were the ones trying to be edgy but ended up looking messy or forced. Being different doesn’t automatically mean it’s good.
Still, compared to other years, this was a strong red carpet. Most people understood the assignment: look elegant, look confident, and don’t overdo it. The best outfits proved that you don’t need to be loud to stand out; you just need to execute it right. And this year, a lot more people actually did.
