Thanksgiving is a holiday every fourth Thursday of November meant to celebrate and be thankful for family, friends, and, of course, eat as much food as your heart desires. To some, it’s a break from the stressful school life, but for others, it’s a time to celebrate what they’re grateful for.
“To me, thanksgiving is like a little pause in the middle of all the chaos. School is really stressful, life is dramatic, everyone’s busy… but on Thanksgiving, everything slows down,” freshman Grace Griffiths said. “It’s like a day where I can relax and show how thankful I am for not just my family, but my friends!”
Most people love the holiday simply because of the feast and food that is served on Thanksgiving.
“To me, Thanksgiving means getting together with your family and friends and honestly just peace, embracing time with your family, and of course, food!” Freshman Alynna Gonzalez said.
When celebrating a day of thanks and food, family is most definitely a huge part of Thanksgiving. Being around the ones you love can make the holiday more special and remind you of what you’re thankful for.
“Thanksgiving is a time where I can truly relax from life for a change and get a break from school, getting to spend time with family,” junior Peyton Hill said. “I guess in a way it’s relaxational time, but it’s more about the lighthearted feeling I get when around family I haven’t seen for so long, and get to eat all the food I want. It means a lot to me, and it really shows how much I value the little things in life.”
Just like its purpose, many are thankful and appreciative.
“It’s like a day that reminds you to be thankful for everything you have,” freshman Avery Grace said.
All in all, this holiday shows us just how special and grateful everyone and everything in our lives is, and this is just a day to recognize that (and also stuff our faces).
“I like how I get to eat a lot and nobody judges me,” freshman Violet Dias said.
