Competition Frenzy
February 21, 2023
Wrestling, swim, color guard and the Reveliers all competed this last weekend, Feb. 18 – 19.
The wrestling team finished 3rd place at their UIL State Tournament, and the State Champion was sophomore Anna Vogt. The wrestling team had extra hours of practice and extra conditioning leading up to this weekend tournament in order to give them the upper hand.
“It’s amazing that I can finally say that I am the number one wrestler in my weight class,” state champion Vogt said. “My favorite part of this weekend was definitely leading up to my finals match and planning out everything I was going to do in order to win, or afterwards celebrating with the team.”
Additionally, CP’s swim and dive team competed at their UIL State Swim meet. Senior Chloe Sharpe got first place in the girls one meter diving, sophomore Lawson Greenwald got fourth in the boys one meter diving. In the swim meet, senior Ryan Sen won eighth in the 100 yard butterfly, and fourth in the 200 IM. Marley Lovick won fourth in the 200 yard freestyle, and College Park won 4th in the girls 400 freestyle relay.
Color Guard and the Revs competed this weekend. Color Guard came home as Regional Champion, and Revs brought home seventh overall.k
