College Park’s orchestra concert took place on November 11, in honor of the veterans who had fought for our country. With the slogan, “Heroes assemble”, the orchestra played pieces from several different movies with strong, heroic characters. These movies included action films like the Avengers, Star Wars, and Black Panther. However, heroic leaders didn’t limit a specific genre of movie. Songs from movies such as Top Gun, Harry Potter, Brave, and K-Pop Demon Hunters were also played as well.
The turnout was exceptional with an almost completely full auditorium from the families in support of their orchestra student. As the show went on, the consensus was that the pieces played were well chosen and a perfect way to show support and respect towards veterans.
“The song choices were great, and the students did a fantastic job.” Jenna Goad said.
There was a moment in the performance where each branch of the military was receiving recognition while the orchestra played their music. The parents and grandparents stood as they were called, smiling proudly, creating a dignified energy among the audience.
“It was really interesting to see all the veterans in the audience,” Morgan McQueen “I’m glad we got to play this concert.”
The performance ended with many students singing along to the songs played by their peers. The full concert was extremely unifying and a great way to celebrate Veterans Day for both the students and the parents.
