The marching band placed 2nd in the Lone Star Preview hosted by The Woodlands High School Marching Band at Woodforest Bank Stadium on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
The Lone Star Preview is a competition held by The Woodlands High School Marching Band for bands across the region to showcase their skill and performance, and also compete with 24 bands total and only 12 bands making it to the finals round.
At 3:15 pm, the band took the field for their preliminary performance and performed their show titled “Glow”.
Preliminary retreat finally came, and the band did not win any music captions, but did place 3rd in the 4A category, and had made top 6 overall.
6 hours later, time came for the finals performance. Taking the field once again, the band was ready to give a performance to remember.
“I genuinely felt like a rush of excitement through me because I felt like the music was really good and our performance was wonderful. I truly gave it my all, and I also felt it from the rest of the band,” Sophomore Karriyah Parrish said.
Time for retreat for final awards had come and the band lined up in a block onto the field, waiting for final announcements to end. The bands were all whittled down to three: Bridgeland High School, North Shore Senior High School, and College Park High School.
“I felt excitement and anticipation to see what place we got,” junior Mark DeVault said.
The band ended up placing 2nd overall for finals.
“It was definitely a shock and I’m proud of how far we’ve come,” Freshman Clara Bonelli said.
