The marching band placed 3rd in the Bands of America North Houston Regional Championship on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Woodforest Bank Stadium.
The BOA North Houston Regional Championship is a competition for high school marching bands across the region in which they show off their skill through competition. The top 12 out of the 24 bands from the preliminary round get a chance to compete in the finals for the title of BOA Regional Champion.
The band stepped onto the field at 1:36 pm, sunburnt and sweaty, but ready to debut their show, titled “Glow. Step after step, set after set, they performed their best under the blazing hot sun. Finally, they finished and rushed off the field.
The performance went considerably well. Despite not winning any music awards or captions for their categories, it was confirmed the band placed 4th overall in the preliminary round. Though the judges were critical, their feedback revealed they were impressed with the production of the preliminary performance.
The band stepped back onto the field at 10 pm later that night to give their finals performance.
“I actually felt nervous for this finals performance,” Freshman Clara Bonelli said.
Wind was blowing. Tensions were high. The crowd thundering with cheers. It all came down to this moment. After 8 minutes, the band finally finished performing and walked off the field.
“I’m gonna be honest, it was a little loose,” head band director Jeffrey Gorring said.
Time came for final awards, and they stepped onto the field one by one. 12th place, 11th place, 10th place…, one by one, each place was announced until it all came down to three. Music captions came out for exceptional performances, and College Park Band had won Best Musical Performance.
Everyone held there breath when suddenly, “Third place goes to… College Park High School.”
As everyone tried to hold in their excitement, 2nd and 1st place were to follow.
