College Park’s symphony orchestra has made CP history, as the first College Park orchestra to advance to the TMEA finals. The symphony orchestra has been selected as a state finalist for the TMEA Honor String Orchestra after placing ninth in the state. It is also the first time since 2000 that a CISD high school orchestra has made it to this point.
To be selected the orchestra submitted recordings, which were judged for technical precision, ensemble balance, tone quality, and musical expression. The review panel then selected a few orchestras across the state of Texas as finalists.
“Our students’ dedication, resilience, and passion have brought them to this prestigious moment, representing our school and district with excellence,” Cavalier orchestra director Emmanuel Coraza said.
