October is beginning, and with it comes not only chilly temperatures and spooky decorations, but also Inktober, a worldwide, 31 prompt, drawing challenge. Inktober invites participants to complete a drawing every day of the month, providing one-word prompts for each day of the October ranging from rhinoceros to nomadic.
Inktober was originally created by artist Jake Parker as a way to help him practice and improve his artistic habits, but throughout the years, it has become a worldwide artistic phenomenon, with thousands of artists taking part each year. Although originally only based around inking, Inktober is now being used by artists of almost every type of media and style as inspiration. Even poets and writers have started incorporating the prompts into their work.
While there is no official “submission” of art for Inktober, most participants use the hashtags #inktober or #inktober2024 on their Inktober art posts to be able to share and group their work with other Inktober participants.
So this October, get out your pens, pencils, and brushes. Go forth and create!
