The Woodlands College Park Band broke the school record at last Saturday’s 23rd annual Lone Star Preview competition. The October 14 event at Woodforest Stadium saw the TWCP Band place 2nd in preliminaries and finals: the highest the band has ever placed in this event.
The Lone Star Preview is a yearly band competition by The Woodlands High School Band and boosters. It includes 20 different bands from high schools around the area.
College Park performed their show, “404: Not Found,” with musical selections by Daft Punk, Steve Reich, Micheal Gachinno, and Christopher Tin. The show included the marching band, precision, and color guard all coming together to put on a marvelous performance. The 2023 event follows last year’s TWCP absence from the competition due to 50 sick College Park band members.
A panel of professionals judged the event, many of whom adjudicated for Drum Corps International, Winter Guard International, and Bands of Americas. The judges included Dena Anderson, Jay Bocook, John Bradford, Bob Chreste, Wayne Downey, Dave Glyde, Mike Mcintosh, KC Michel, Todd Prince, Michael Raiford, and Jeff Wilson.
