The Cavs took on a massive win versus the Caney Creek Panthers under the Friday Night Lights, though there was another team, the so-called “under-dogs” who went home victorious.
The freshmen team played on enemy turf Thursday night and won 30-14. Running back AJ McKnight started the game off right by running the ball 23 yards, scoring the first touchdown. Then, quarterback Evan Oiestein scored for an extra 2 points ending the first quarter at 8-0.
In the second quarter, Jack Swan intercepted the ball at the 42-yard line then scored a touchdown, Johan Rivera kicked the PAT for an extra point. Beginning of the third quarter Rivera ran the ball as quarterback scoring a touchdown then again making a field goal.
“When I scored, I felt as if I showed myself what was capable of happening,” Rivera said. “Even though my first touchdown didn’t count, they couldn’t stop me from celebrating once the second one was made.”
Finally, in the last quarter, McKnight ran the ball 17 yards scoring yet again, finishing the game.
“My team was super hyped after winning the game. After the game ended we celebrated and watched the other teams take home wins,” Rivera said.
