Zachary Thibodeaux, senior and member of the Academy of Science and Technology at College Park, is the only student in Conroe ISD, and globally, to score perfectly on the AP Environmental Sciences exam in May 2023.
Zachary was one of 459 students to have been awarded this accomplishment for the 2023 testing, and was the only student around the world to score perfectly and earn every single point possible on the exam. This is the first time any student at College Park has scored this highly on the AP Environmental Sciences Exam, and last year, no one across the globe scored perfectly.
“Zachary’s accomplishment is outstanding,” Principal Mark Murrell said, “The AP exams are very challenging and for a student to achieve a perfect score on any exam is amazing.”
Thibodeaux spent last year in AP Environmental Sciences with teacher Larissa Coffee who prepared her classes for the exam.
“I want to thank my teacher, Mrs. Coffee, for all her help in preparing for the exam and for explaining the content extremely well throughout the school year,” Senior Zachary Thibodeaux said.
To prepare for the exam, Thibodeaux’s class took trips to the Jones State Forest where they went on scavenger hunts for items. The hunts helped the students understand local examples of the items in the Environmental Sciences’ syllabus.
“I am extremely proud of him and all the effort that he gives on a daily basis,” Murrell said. “This is a great honor for Zachary, our school, and programs.”
Zachary spent his time preparing for the exam by utilizing practice questions from his Princeton Review book, reviewing his notes from class, and practicing FRQs.
“It cemented my plans to study environmental engineering next year in college and eventually pursue a career in this field. I proved to myself that I have a solid foundation in topics related to the environment and improved my confidence that I had chosen a field that aligns with my knowledge and skills,” Thibodeaux said.
College Park is extremely proud of Zachary and his determination to school, and we cannot wait to see where his greatness takes him.
