Rodeo Art
January 23, 2023
Every January, schools across Texas participate in the School Art Program at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The schools compete in district shows that are judged by the Show’s School Art Committee where the artwork is divided into three categories, elementary, junior high, and high school. Seniors Naja Woodard and Cassie Wilson both placed as qualifying finalists in the sculpture category. Woodard created “Through Hell and High Water” and Wilson created “For a Moment”
“ I paid a lot of attention to detail and felt my improvement since last year.” Woodard said. “I feel proud of my work and I’m happy to represent CP in this competition.”
Both girls worked extremely hard on their pieces and won amazing titles. You can visit their artwork, and the other winners, in the Hayloft Gallery during the Houston Rodeo, Feb. 28 – March 19.
