Kickin’ it with the Lady Cavs

Kick. Pass. Score.

The whistles of the referees pierce the fresh night air. The punts of the ball and cheers from the crowd fill the soccer field. After months of preparation, the Lady Cavaliers are ready for a new season. After placing second in district overall last year, there is much anticipation as to how the games will turn out and the Lady Cavs will place.

After warming up during pre-season with tournaments and games, it’s finally time for the girls to put their true game face on as district play begins January 17th.

“The biggest thing we are working on right now is just more bonding between everyone and getting comfortable,” said manager Dayanne Lopez.

The girls have gotten new uniforms this year, thanks to contributions from the booster club members, a sponsor, and profits from the merchandise the girls have promoted and sold. The team is adjusting and working towards being more in tune with each other, focusing specifically more on communication. With practice, they are improving and getting better. Working together more as a team is a goal for the Cavs.

“The uniforms are super cute, looser, and just more comfortable,” junior Allison Blease said, “I really love them.”

The Lady Cavs will play the Lady Highlanders at the College Park field February 4, in which all Cavs are encouraged to go to support the girls against their biggest rivals.

“The game I’m most nervous for are the games against The Woodlands,” senior Benning Bass said, “I want to see how our team matches against them.”

Be sure to go show the Lady Cavs some support at their games which can be found at https://ladycavsoccer.com/schedule.

“Everyone should definitely prioritize going to the Senior Night game against Conroe,” Bass said, “And the game against Oak Ridge. ”
