Bands of America

Eliana Fulton

On the weekend on September 24th the College Park Marching Band competed in their first contest of the season, which they hosted at Woodforest Stadium. The newly unveiled show is entitled “Forest of Numbers,” and is based on the equivocally named architectural piece by Emanuelle Moureaux. This show explores the voyages of time, music, and color all encapsulated by the span of numbers.

Bands of America, the distributor of the contest, is a nationwide marching band competition that College Park competes in at a regional, area, and super-regional level. These denominations span from 22 local high schools to 72 of the best high schools in east Texas. At this first primary regional level, the band performed twice: once in prelims earning them a spot in finals where they placed 9th out of the twelve finalists.
