Putting Towards State
April 1, 2021
March 24th, five Lady Cavs – Sophomore Gracie Heinle, Sophomore Thaiz Amezcua, Junior Elizabeth Stallons, Junior Emily Madeley, and Senior Alexa Gonzalez – carried home runner-up medals, qualifying for the Region 2-6A Championship. Heinle finished as the top performer for the Lady Cavaliers, finishing sixth overall, with a score of 15 over par.
The girls will leave on April 20th for a practice round to familiarize themselves with the course before the beginning of the 2021 Regional Tournament. These are 18-hole tournaments, where the girls compete at a High School Varsity level, shooting 95 or better from 5,000 yds.
“The girls have a good chance to advance to the State Golf Tournament. In order to do that, they must be one of the top three teams at the regional tournament,” Head Coach Tatum said.
