How to Register to Vote

Isabella Carlin, Reporter

Election day is fast approaching in 32 days. In a year that has been filled with a pandemic, a social movement, and natural disasters across the country, it can be hard to remember to prepare for the upcoming election. Regardless of which candidate you are backing, it is important to have your voice heard by voting.

In order to vote, you must be registered. To accomplish this, you must visit the website “https://www.votetexas.gov/register/index.html” by Monday, October 5th. On the web page, you will be asked to complete a brief application regarding your personal information and residence status.

Once you have completed this application, you will be directed to print it out and send it to your local county office. The address for our local election office is P.O. Box 2646 Conroe 77305-2646. This must be mailed at least 30 days prior to election day in order to be eligible to vote at the polls so make sure this gets complete in a timely manner.

If you are unsure if you registered to vote in the past or have moved since the last election, you can check your current status on “https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do” to learn more.

Even if you are not eligible to vote this year, you still have rights as an American citizen to have your voices heard. This includes making sure your parents and relatives are registered and sharing your political beliefs with them. Every voice matters and it is never too early to start using yours, regardless if you can vote or not.
